P90X Lean Day 12: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

Today definitely didn't go as planned. Let me just say that off the bat.

While we weren't up late last night, I did have a few beers and this morning I was a little sluggish from all of the carbs. I am continuously amazed at how different I feel when the carb:protein:fat ratio is way off. The day I've felt the best was by FAR the day I had the highest protein (+/- 125g from what I remember). Anywho, I digress.

Warmup went fine. First sets of leg exercises went fine. First set of chin-ups went fine (with the pull-up bar, thank you very much!). In fact, they were better than fine. I got a better workout than I would have with the bands. Second set of leg exercises went fine. Now here's where we have a problem. I was doing the wide grip pull-ups, legs on the back side of the stool... first one was ok. I go up to do the second one and next thing I know I'm on the ground. So maybe my "irrational" fear wasn't so irrational fear after all. I was afraid of falling on my ass and lookie here, I did. I totally busted the hell out of my tailbone and I have a nice bruise on the back of my right arm where I hit the corner of the 15lb. weight that broke my fall. All I could do for a few minutes was just roll over onto my stomach and just wait, fighting back tears. I finally got up, went back to that wretched exercise and continued with the bands. I struggled through the rest of the leg exercises, which definitely disappointed me. I love leg exercises. Actually, I love working out when I'm in the mood. I love the results.

So, here I sit. I am left with no choice but to push off the Ab Ripper X until tomorrow (you won't hear me complain!). There's no way I can do the V-sit ab work with a (very) bruised tailbone. I'm a little slow getting up and down from a sitting position, but overall it's not a terrible injury. I do think I'll be able to get through Kenpo tomorrow. Here's an arm picture for your viewing pleasure:

Lowes here I come, I'm making a permanent pull-up bar, damn it!
