God Bless Texas

There comes a point where you have to stop and evaluate what's going on in your life. There's always the question of if this is the place I want to be, if this is what I want to be doing, if I'm truly happy.

C and I had a serious conversation a couple weeks ago about moving. We'd always joked around that we'd love to move to Atlanta someday, but Texas came up in our moving discussion and we've decided to pursue it. We're at that point in our lives where we're evaluating the "rest" of our lives; where we want to raise a family, where we want to continue our careers, where we want to travel to, etc. The funny thing is you never really hear anything bad about Texas; every person I've talked to about it says they love it. We're specifically looking at Austin/Round Rock and have even gone as far as buying plane tickets for the end of June to go visit.

It's an exciting change. For several weeks now it's been so blah around here; nothing to really look forward to, nothing overly positive, nothing really different or exciting. Now we have something to look forward to together and something that keeps our interest. We've basically decided that we'd start a family once we got there, taking some of the stress off moving. I know, I know, we have to like the place first, but it sounds like we will. The biggest thing about planning this is we have time to save for a half cross country move and work out the logistics. One of us, if not both, will have to have a job anywhere we move and our house will have to sell, but hopefully at that point the economy will look one helluva lot better than it does right now. We're planners to say the least, and it really does keep the spirits up to have something to look forward to!

C IM'ed me the other night and told me about an Austin radio station that he found. The next day he said he had come back into the office and our first dance song ("Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole) was on that station. It was a sign for us, he claims... we'll see!
